- TITLE: How to Add Units of Measurement to Numbers in Table Cells
- PRODUCT: Ami Pro 3.0
- DATE: 06-Oct-92
-
- PROBLEM:
-
- When typing a unit of measurement after a number in a table cell, the table
- cell becomes a text cell and is not used in formulas. Can numbers in a table
- cell be assigned a unit of measurement that will be used in a formula?
-
- SOLUTION:
-
- You can edit the paragraph style used in your table to reflect a unit of
- measurement that will be used in a formula. For example, the numbers in your
- table are all measurements in "feet". If you modify "Table format" in the
- paragraph style according to the instructions below, "feet" will become part
- of the paragraph style so you will not need to type "feet" for each number.
- The unit of measurement can be used in any formula you create using the
- paragraph style.
-
- HOW TO EDIT A TABLE PARAGRAPH STYLE TO REFLECT A UNIT OF MEASUREMENT
-
- 1. While your insertion point is in the Ami Pro table, choose Style / Modify
- Style.
- 2. Select the paragraph style used in your table from the "Style" list box.
- 3. Select "Table format" from the "Modify" list.
- 4. Select "Currency" from the "Cell format" list.
- 5. Place the insertion point in the "No. decimal places" box under "Numeric
- format".
- 6. Type the number of decimal places you want for your numbers.
- 7. Place your insertion point in the "Symbol" box under "Currency format".
- 8. Type the characters you need to represent a unit of measurement. For
- example, type "ft" to represent feet or "in" to represent inches. If you
- want a space to appear between the number and the unit of measurement,
- touch the Spacebar once before typing the unit of measurement.
- 9. Select "Leading" if you want the unit of measurement to appear before the
- number or select "Trailing" if you want the unit of measurement to appear
- after the number.
- 10. Choose OK.
- 11. All the numbers in your table using the paragraph style you just edited
- will display with a unit of measurement (except the cell where the
- insertion point is located until the insertion point is moved from the
- cell). The unit of measurement will display in any cell where you insert
- a formula using the same paragraph style.
